origin of this festivity is because the responsible for the victory over the
French, the leader of the Mexican army Ignacio Zaragoza, born in Texas. A few
years after the battle a group of Mexicans celebrated this victory for the
first time in that State.

Don’t get confused! The 5 de Mayo is not the Mexican Independence Day, this happened 50 years before the Battle of Puebla, the real Independence Day is celebrated on September 16th.
