The Benefits Of Cooking with Avocados
The avocado is one of the creamiest, more delicious vegetable… Supposedly. Actually it is more like a one seeded berry, making it a fruit, much like tomato. But before we all get carried away in the never ending discussion of whether it is a veggie or not, we all have to agree on something: It is wonderful and nutritious, and more people should eat it daily to make their meals a little better. And although there are many other adjectives I’d like to use when describing the taste of my favourite...Veggie?, I’d like to tell you how eating it is good for your health.
Good for the eyesight
It contains lutein, a carotenoid. You might remember that last term from carrots’ benefits, and what’s the best of it? Making the retinae stronger against the UV rays. It also helps to control intraocular pressure, thus making our eyes stronger against the appearance of cataracts.
Intake of vitamins
Avocados contain high levels of folic acid, a type of vitamin B that helps the production of new cells in our body. This also prevents the degeneration of cells walls and prevents DNA changes within the structure of the cells. As you might know, this abnormalities within the components of our body are the reason behind cancer. They also contain vitamin E which helps to reverse the process of cellular degradation thanks to its antioxidant components, making our skin softer and more flexible.
Lower levels of cholesterol
They contain mono unsaturated fatty acids which reduce the levels of ‘bad cholesterol’. This also helps our heart health, since the body it’s not overworking to transporting blood through semi-obstructed veins and arteries.
Hair repair
It's one of the most understated benefits of avocados: Due to the high amount of vitamins and fat it contains, using a mixture of avocados, honey and egg yolk for our damaged hair repairs it and makes its fibers soft and shiny again.

Now that you know all the benefits that this noble vegetable has to offer, why don’t you head to RG Cocina Mexicana and try some of the dishes with avocados in them to obtain all of the vitamins and minerals that it has to offer!
